A newsroom for home buyers and sellers

Opendoor’s blog is a hub for real estate tips, trends, and insights for home buyers and sellers. We were asked to redesign the site to make it easier to navigate and more visually interesting so a user would want to explore content and walk away delighted.

The page starts with a video hero to showcase different customers and lifestyle experiences to bring in warmth and realness. A category navigation/search bar to filter the blog posts appears underneath the hero in order to improve navigation. Each article’s information sits in it’s own card for a clean and easily scannable page.

Card design

The number of cards per row varies in order to create hierarchy and easy scanning. The amount of information shown is limited to only the most important info, i.e. category, title, date. Previously, cover images on the blog used a mix of illustration, text, and photography. In order to create consistency and bring in more realness we opted for photography only for the cover images.

Blog posts

Each article page starts with a splashy hero image and large intro text to create visual hierarchy and provide a quick way to see what the article is about.

In the body of the article, the margins increase to add white space and create shorter lines of text to overall improve readability.

The page ends with suggested articles to encourage the user to continue their journey through the blog.
